My Jab Does Nothing Against a Southpaw

01 · The Situation

Against any orthodox fighter my jab sets everything up. Against a southpaw I throw it and we just bang forearms. Nothing happens and now they are looking at me.

02 · Your Turn

In your next southpaw sparring, throw only jabs for the first minute. Nothing else. Pay attention to where the jabs land and what your lead arm does to their lead arm. Come back when you can feel why the jab works differently in this match-up.

I defend right kicks all day in sparring. The southpaw's left kick comes from somewhere else entirely and I keep eating it. My block is in the wrong place before I know it.
