My Trainer Says Relax But I Tighten Up When Scared

01 · The Situation

Your trainer tells you to relax. The moment someone throws at you, every muscle tightens. You know it is wrong. You cannot stop it.

02 · Your Turn

In your next sparring session, try to notice the moment before your shoulders tighten — not after, before. Try to catch it arriving. You will miss it at first. Spend one round just trying to locate where tension starts. Shoulders? Jaw? Hands? Come back when you have found where it begins.
