I Can Only Move Forward and Backward

01 · The Situation

You understand you should cut angles. When the moment comes your feet only know two directions. Left and right are somewhere in your head but not yet in your legs.

02 · Your Turn

Put a piece of tape on the floor in a cross shape. Stand at the centre and practise stepping to each of the four points and returning — one hundred times. This is not sparring. It is only training your feet that other directions exist. Come back when stepping sideways starts to feel like something your feet actually know.
